Chhattisgarh is seeking to move beyond its traditional dependence on minerals, targeting high-value manufacturing across electronics, semiconductors, pharmaceuticals, engineering, auto components, defence, AI and green steel, driven by the state’s Industrial Development Policy 2024–30.
Investor interest has intensified since the policy’s implementation, with investment proposals worth nearly ₹8 lakh crore recorded in recent periods, expected to generate more than 1.5 lakh employment opportunities across AI, data centres, semiconductors, pharmaceuticals, textiles and agro-processing.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said the state’s goal is not merely to produce mineral resources but to maximise value addition within Chhattisgarh, positioning it as a hub for high-value manufacturing rather than solely a mineral-rich state.
AI and data centre investments in Naya Raipur are emerging as a new growth area, with semiconductor investment proposals crossing ₹18,000 crore. An Electronics Manufacturing Cluster has also been approved for Rajnandgaon, expected to attract over ₹3,000 crore in investment and generate around 9,000 jobs.
Green steel is another priority, with funding commitments worth ₹13,840 crore secured at the Chhattisgarh Green Steel Dialogue, as the state seeks to leverage its existing steel manufacturing base while reducing carbon intensity. The pharmaceutical sector has separately attracted investment proposals worth ₹992.53 crore, with four projects worth around ₹216 crore currently under implementation.
