A six-storey IT park spread across nearly 69,000 square feet has been inaugurated in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, with the facility expected to generate employment for around 7,000 IT graduates from the delta districts.
Named HAMLY TOWERS, the park has been developed by industrialist Hamsavardhan Mohan at a total cost of approximately Rs 60 crore, including interior work, high-quality glass exterior and lift facilities. The building has been constructed primarily using around 10 tonnes of steel, making it one of the region’s notable steel-built commercial structures.
Mohan, who returned to India in 2016 after working with IT companies overseas, started his firm from a small office with one employee. The company now employs around 1,000 people in Thanjavur while serving clients across several countries including the United States. HAMLY TOWERS represents his vision of creating large-scale local employment for IT graduates in his hometown.
Engineer Vijay Anand highlighted the advantages of steel construction, noting that steel buildings can be completed faster and at lower cost when properly planned. He added that foundation costs, typically 30 per cent of total construction expenditure in conventional builds, can be reduced to 15 per cent through steel construction.
Tamil Nadu Labour Minister J Mohammed Parvez described the development as a major initiative to create local employment opportunities for youth in the Delta district, adding that the state government is continuously implementing schemes to support regional growth.
