AWS Breaks Ground on New Data Centre Near Hyderabad

Amazon Web Services has formally begun construction of a new data centre at Bharat Future City near Hyderabad, with Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy attending the groundbreaking ceremony. The facility is part of a Rs 60,000 crore investment commitment made by AWS to the Telangana government.

The data centre forms part of Amazon’s $48 billion investment in India, of which $21 billion will go toward cloud and AI infrastructure from 2026 to 2030. AWS said the expanded capacity in Hyderabad and Mumbai will give startups, enterprises and government organisations access to custom AI chips, cloud services and developer tools.

AWS also confirmed it has trained 250 students in Telangana on data centre operations and hired 110 of them into its Data Centre Operations team. Amazon currently operates at least three data centres near Hyderabad.

CM Revanth said the establishment of such a major company would accelerate investments in Future City and invited Amazon to expand its operations further in Telangana. He also highlighted the need to relocate industries within Hyderabad and expand the city’s metro rail network to support the region’s growth.
