Kirby Building Systems Breaks Ground on Trichy Plant

Kirby Building System and Structures India, a subsidiary of Kuwait-based Alghanim Industries involved in pre-engineered steel buildings, has conducted a groundbreaking ceremony for a new manufacturing facility at Manapparai Sipcot industrial park in Trichy.

The new factory, with an annual manufacturing capacity of 1 lakh tonnes, will come up on 33 acres at an outlay of Rs 239.5 crore, with commercial operations expected to begin by mid-2027. Around 1,000 jobs are expected to be generated at the plant over the next few years.

P V Mohan, Managing Director of Kirby India, said Tamil Nadu is one of the growth engines of the country, with Sipcot and TN Guidance teams proactive in welcoming the investment. He noted that Manapparai is strategically located, supported by numerous engineering, welding and ITI educational and skill development institutions in the Trichy region.

With investments from other companies in the PEB sector also expected in Manapparai Sipcot, the company said such developments will support fast-paced infrastructure growth using steel buildings. Kirby International CEO Waleed K Alghanim said the company is strengthening its presence in southern India to stay closer to the country’s most dynamic industrial regions.
