Kerala Unveils Nation’s Longest Cantilever Glass Bridge in Vagamon

Tourists in Kerala can now embark on an exhilarating adventure as the nation’s longest cantilever glass bridge was recently inaugurated in Vagamon by Tourism Minister PA Mohammed Riyas. This remarkable bridge, situated at an impressive elevation of 3,600 ft above sea level in the Vagamon hills, spans a length of 40 meters.

Amidst the lush greenery of Vagamon, the bridge offers breathtaking panoramic views of the verdant hills, valleys, and charming nearby towns of Koottikkal and Kokkayar to those who venture to its end. Supported by sturdy steel cables and towering pole structures, the bridge can accommodate up to 15 individuals at a time, providing them with an aerial perspective of the Vagamon hill station. Remarkably, approximately 35 tonnes of steel imported from Germany were used in the construction of this captivating structure.

Located within the DTPC’s adventure tourism park, visitors to the glass bridge can also engage in various other thrilling activities. This project, a result of a public-private partnership between the district tourism promotion council and Bharat Mata Ventures Pvt Ltd, required an investment of INR 3 crore. Tourism officials are optimistic that the introduction of the glass bridge will significantly enhance tourism prospects for Vagamon.

The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of notable figures including Peermade MLA Vazhoor Soman, Udumbanchola MLA M M Mani, and district panchayat president K T Binu.
