ArcelorMittal has maintained its position as the world’s second-largest steel producer in the World Steel Association’s 2025 ranking of leading steel-producing companies, despite crude steel production declining from 65.15 million tonnes in 2024 to 63.43 million tonnes in 2025, a decrease of approximately 2.6 per cent.
The ranking, based on annual crude steel production volumes, highlights ArcelorMittal’s continued strong standing within the global steel industry, with its extensive international production network and operational strength cited as key factors supporting its stable position. The company operates a broad production and distribution network spanning Europe, North America, South America, Africa and Asia, supplying flat and long steel products to sectors including automotive, household appliances, construction, engineering and machinery manufacturing.
Sustainable production has become a central pillar of ArcelorMittal’s growth and investment strategy. The company is accelerating investments in low-carbon steelmaking technologies across its European operations, increasing its use of renewable energy and expanding electric arc furnaces and recycled scrap-based production routes. Its new steel powder production facility in Spain stands out as a key project supporting its decarbonisation and sustainability objectives.
