Epicon, an awe-inspiring addition to Saudi Arabia’s ambitious Neom project, redefines futuristic architecture and engineering. Rising majestically along the Red Sea coast in the Gulf of Aqaba, this ultra-modern skyscraper is part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, a strategic initiative to transform the country into a global tourism hub. The $500 billion Neom megaproject aims to revolutionise lifestyle and tourism while preserving the natural landscape, and Epicon embodies this ethos by occupying a minimal footprint and leaving 95 per cent of its surroundings untouched.
Designed by the renowned international architecture firm 10Design, Epicon consists of two angular towers, one reaching 225 m and the other soaring to 275 m. Both towers are clad in a mirror-like reflective steel that amplifies their sleek, cutting-edge design. The structures feature cantilevered planes that extend beyond the towers, defying traditional engineering concepts with their gravity-defying appearance. These planes contribute to the towers’ surreal appeal, giving them a distinctive, futuristic look that blends effortlessly with the surrounding desert and coastline. The reflective steel on the exterior adds to the building’s striking appearance while also improving energy efficiency by reducing heat absorption and keeping the interior cooler.
The towers are interconnected by expansive platforms, also finished in steel, which house an array of luxurious amenities. These include outdoor pools, a state-of-the-art gym, a library, workspaces, restaurants, lounges, and entertainment venues. The design emphasises both opulence and functionality, providing residents and guests with everything necessary for a modern, sustainable lifestyle. Epicon’s design also includes a boutique hotel with 41 exclusive rooms and 14 high-end suites and apartments, providing a top-tier hospitality experience.
Additionally, the Epicon Resort, located nearby, mirrors the vertical grandeur of the towers in a horizontal format. The resort’s design echoes the sharp, steel-clad style of Epicon while offering 120 rooms and 45 residential beach villas. This resort is designed to integrate well with the natural surroundings, offering guests a luxurious, coastal retreat experience that complements the striking architecture of the towers. Neom, home to the building, serves as a futuristic lifestyle destination, embodying innovation through its ten distinct regions.
