The 8.4-kilometre Greater Noida West metro corridor is expected to receive Union Cabinet approval this month, with all required no-objection certificates secured and the detailed project report currently with the Prime Minister’s Office, according to Noida CEO Krishna Karunesh. Cabinet clearance will trigger the tendering process for appointing a developer.
The proposed elevated corridor will connect Noida Sector 51 to Greater Noida West Sector 4, with five stations covering Sectors 61, 70, 122, and 123 before terminating near Gaur Chowk. Estimated at approximately Rs 2,000 crore, the project is targeted for completion within four years of construction commencing, with the corridor expected to serve nearly five lakh residents currently dependent on road-based transport.
The alignment was revised following the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs’ earlier decision to withhold approval pending assessment of the proposed 72-kilometre Ghaziabad-Jewar rapid rail corridor. The Centre has separately approved two other Noida Metro Rail Corporation projects, the Aqua Line extension from Sector 142 to Botanical Garden and the Depot-Boraki corridor, both awarded to Larsen and Toubro. The existing Aqua Line recorded average daily ridership of approximately 61,811 passengers in July.
