North Andhra has been steadily securing an influx of investments, with the state government’s “speed of doing business” approach drawing industrialists and investors toward Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam for major projects.
With Visakhapatnam emerging as the region’s economic growth driver, investments announced by the NDA government are steadily coming to fruition, spanning IT companies, data centres, tourism development, manufacturing, logistics, renewable energy and the integrated greenfield steel plant of ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India. Other major projects include the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram, a solar ingot-wafer manufacturing unit, and Google’s reported $15 billion data centre.
Gadagottu Sambasiva Rao, Vice-Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry, described the establishment of ASR International Airport in Bhogapuram as a major step in drawing investments and boosting connectivity and air cargo. He noted that work on the AM/NS India integrated steel plant at Nakkapalli is underway, alongside multiple data centres and large- and medium-scale investments across sectors, driven by conducive policies and rapid project execution.
Separately, IT and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh laid the foundation stone for AIG Hospitals in Visakhapatnam — a world-class integrated healthcare, academic and research hub being developed with an investment of Rs 2,000 crore in Yendada, expected to create employment for 9,000 people.
