Jindal Stainless to Invest ₹900 Cr in Cold Rolling Capacity

Jindal Stainless plans to invest ₹900 crore to expand its cold rolling capacity in India from 2.05 million tonnes per annum to 2.67 MTPA by FY28, aimed at meeting rising demand from automotive, appliances, food processing and other industrial applications, Managing Director Abhyuday Jindal said in the company’s FY26 annual report.

The expansion will add 0.62 MTPA of capacity, spread across facilities in Hisar and Kharagpur, alongside new hot rolled annealing, pickling and cold rolling facilities at Jajpur, Odisha. The additional capacity will support demand for thinner cold rolled stainless steel products, with cold rolling improving dimensional accuracy and surface finish for applications requiring tighter specifications.

The investment aligns with the company’s broader target of reaching sales volumes of around 3.5 MTPA by FY29. Jindal Stainless reported finished goods sales of 2.57 million tonnes in FY26, an 8.1 per cent year-on-year increase, with consolidated revenue of ₹42,955 crore and EBITDA up 19.2 per cent to ₹5,560 crore.

The company is also identifying a site in Maharashtra for a proposed ₹40,000 crore stainless steel manufacturing facility to produce specialised grades for hydrogen, nuclear energy, defence, mobility, infrastructure and process industries. The facility is expected to improve logistics efficiency and support import substitution for specialised grades, complementing Jindal Stainless’s broader capacity expansion strategy.
