AM/NS India and IIT Roorkee Sign Steel Research MoU

ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India and the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate across education, research, innovation and industry engagement, combining AM/NS India’s manufacturing footprint with IIT Roorkee’s academic and research base.

Under the MoU, the partners will jointly develop academic programmes, executive education, professional development courses and workforce transformation initiatives. They will also pursue industry-focused consulting, technical advisory services, collaborative research, intellectual property creation and technology transfer.

AM/NS India will use NAMTECH, its industry-integrated education initiative, as the platform to deliver the partnership’s objectives. NAMTECH combines experiential learning, industry-led curricula and real-world problem solving to build future-ready talent and translate research into industrial impact.

CEO Dilip Oommen said the collaboration with IIT Roorkee, leveraging NAMTECH as an innovation platform, aims to build future-ready talent, accelerate applied research and develop solutions that strengthen the competitiveness and sustainability of India’s manufacturing and steel sectors.

IIT Roorkee Director Dr. K.K. Pant added that the partnership marks an important step in translating academic research into industry-relevant outcomes, advancing sustainability in alignment with the Viksit Bharat vision through practical, scalable and implementable solutions.

The MoU establishes a long-term framework for sustained engagement between industry and academia to develop talent, accelerate innovation and address emerging challenges in India’s steel and manufacturing sectors.
