Rising with quiet authority above Hong Kong’s Central district, The Henderson has arrived as one of the most celebrated new landmarks in the world, earning the distinguished title of World’s Best Property and firmly establishing itself as a new icon in one of the planet’s most competitive skylines.
Designed by the legendary Zaha Hadid Architects, The Henderson draws its architectural identity from the Bauhinia flower, Hong Kong’s beloved floral emblem. Its form evokes the organic elegance of a flower bud on the verge of blooming, with every curve, every surface, and every transition in the facade reflecting the natural layering and geometry of the blossom. Far from being a purely aesthetic gesture, this organic language is realised through a structurally innovative six-mega-column steel superstructure, one that bears loads far surpassing the criteria of a standard commercial skyscraper while enabling the building’s complex, flowing form.
The Henderson’s bespoke curved glass facade, crafted in Europe by seele from over 4,000 panels of four-ply double-laminated curved insulated glass, is among the most technically demanding facade systems ever installed on a commercial tower. It filters excessive solar heat, reduces the building’s carbon footprint, and creates a shimmering, ever-changing surface that responds to Hong Kong’s light across the course of the day.
At its summit, Cloud 39 — an 8-metre clear glass-ceilinged column-free ballroom- offers panoramic views across the city, while at its base, a thoughtfully designed Art Garden extends the building’s architectural vision into the surrounding public realm, weaving seamlessly into the greenery of Chater Garden and the three surrounding parks.
In a city defined by architectural ambition, The Henderson does not merely add to the skyline. It redefines what is possible within it.
