The Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation Ltd (HMRTC) has commenced the planning phase for two new metro corridors aimed at improving connectivity between Old and New Gurgaon. This initiative is part of efforts to ease traffic congestion and enhance public transport infrastructure in the rapidly growing region.

The first proposed corridor, spanning 17 kilometers, will connect Bhondsi to Gurgaon Railway Station, significantly alleviating traffic on Sohna Road and NH-8. Key stations along this route will include Vatika Chowk, Subhash Chowk, Rajiv Chowk, Sohna Chowk, and Railway Road. The corridor is designed to intersect with the Millennium City Centre-Cyber City metro line at Subhash Chowk and Sector 5, with a rapid rail interchange at Rajiv Chowk.

The second corridor, measuring 13.6 kilometers, will link Golf Course Extension Road to Sector 5, facilitating smoother travel between corporate hubs and residential areas in Old Gurgaon. Important stops on this line will include Hong Kong Market in Sector 57, Ardee City, Millennium City Centre, Signature Tower, Maharana Pratap Chowk, Atul Kataria Chowk, and Sheetla Mata Road.

While the proposal for these corridors had received approval during an HMRTC board meeting in August last year, the tender process for the Detailed Project Reports (DPR) was delayed due to the model code of conduct during Haryana’s assembly elections.

However, with the conclusion of state and civic elections, the project has now resumed, bringing the metro expansion one step closer to reality.
