Zelestra, a global leader in renewable energy, has been awarded a prestigious Firm & Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) contract by Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN), a Navratna-category public sector enterprise in India. This contract marks a significant step forward in India’s renewable energy ambitions, enabling the development of a 500 MW hybrid energy project in Solapur, Maharashtra.

The project, which integrates solar, wind, and battery storage technologies, is set to come online by 2027. It will feature 250 MWdc of solar power, 180 MW of wind energy, and a 90 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS), making it a highly efficient and sustainable energy solution. Zelestra, known for its vertically integrated approach, will oversee the development, construction, ownership, and operation of the facility.

Designed to provide round-the-clock clean energy, the project will cater to peak demand times, particularly in the morning and evening when grid demand is at its highest. Once operational, the facility is expected to generate over 815 GWh annually, enough to power more than 225,000 Indian households.

The project will also contribute to a significant reduction in carbon emissions, cutting around 0.7 million tonnes of CO2 each year, marking a crucial step toward India’s renewable energy goals.
