The Kerala government has earmarked 340 acres in Thiruvananthapuram to boost port-led industrialization linked to Vizhinjam Port.
In a move to strengthen industrial growth around Vizhinjam Port, the Kerala government has designated 340 acres across Neyyattinkara, Balaramapuram, and Kattakada for industrial parks. These locations, situated 20–30 km from the port, await final approval from the state revenue department before the Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Kinfra) initiates infrastructure development.
The master plan for port-based industrialization includes eight townships forming an outer growth corridor. Following the Vizhinjam Conclave, which attracted 51 investment proposals in logistics, warehousing, and manufacturing, the government is shifting from a land-pooling model to direct acquisition. Plans also feature a 6.3 sq. km logistics hub in Vizhinjam, a 4.01 sq. km health tourism hub in Kovalam, and a proposed SEZ by the Adani Group.
