Purvah Green Power, a subsidiary of Kolkata-based Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation (CESC), has been awarded a 150 MW interstate transmission system (ISTS)-connected wind-solar hybrid power project by CESC. The agreement also includes an additional 150 MW capacity under the greenshoe option.

The project was awarded through tariff-based competitive bidding in line with the Ministry of Power’s guidelines for grid-connected wind-solar hybrid projects. Purvah Green will enter into a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with CESC. As a related-party transaction, CESC has ensured transparency and regulatory compliance by executing the agreement on an arm’s length basis.

CESC, an integrated power utility company involved in electricity generation, transmission, and distribution, acquired a 63.91% stake in Purvah Green Power in August 2024 for Rs 2.05 billion ($24.48 million). Previously a subsidiary of Crescent Power, Purvah Green was selected in September 2024 by CESC to develop 300 MW of ISTS-connected solar power projects, split between 150 MW via competitive bidding and 150 MW under the greenshoe option.

This latest project highlights CESC’s commitment to expanding its renewable energy portfolio through innovative hybrid solutions.
