The Noida Metro Aqua Line extension project, which has recently received approval from the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet, is set to significantly enhance connectivity between Noida and Greater Noida. The modified Detailed Project Report (DPR) for this 17.435 km extension, connecting Sector 51 to Knowledge Park-V in Greater Noida, has been submitted to the Centre for final approval.
With a budget of INR 2,991.60 crore, the extension will add 11 new stations, including Sector 51, Sector 61 (interchange with the DMRC Blue Line), Sector 70, Sector 122, Sector 123, Greater Noida Sector 4, Eco Tech-12, Greater Noida Sectors 2, 3, 10, and 12, and Knowledge Park-V.
This extension will alleviate traffic congestion, especially along Vikas Marg and the Noida-Greater Noida Link Road, by offering a more efficient public transport option. It will also improve connectivity to both the Aqua Line and the DMRC Blue Line, boosting overall urban mobility and public transport infrastructure in the region. The project is expected to ease commuter travel and provide much-needed relief to the area’s busy roads.
The Noida Metro Aqua Line extension is also expected to drive economic growth and improve access to key commercial and residential areas in both Noida and Greater Noida. By providing a faster and more reliable public transport option, it will encourage greater use of the metro system, reduce reliance on private vehicles, and help curb pollution. Additionally, the new stations will improve accessibility to educational institutions, commercial hubs, and residential zones, fostering overall urban development and enhancing the quality of life for residents and commuters alike.
