Air India Opens Massive Delhi Warehouse for Aircraft Maintenance Spares

Air India has officially inaugurated a large-scale warehouse facility in Delhi designed to house over 1,000,000 engineering spare parts for aircraft maintenance. Situated in the cargo complex near Terminal 3 at Delhi Airport, this centralised warehouse aims to enhance the efficiency of flight turnaround times for operations departing from Delhi.

This facility will serve as a comprehensive solution for storing a wide range of aircraft spares, tools, and ground support equipment, encompassing everything from basic hardware to intricate and advanced components such as avionics, hydraulics, structural elements, pneumatics, and mechanical parts.

Campbell Wilson, CEO and MD of Air India, emphasised the positive impact of this facility on the airline’s operational efficiency and its contribution to strengthening India’s aviation ecosystem. He highlighted that the warehouse would provide more convenient access to aircraft spares, enabling swift responses to engineering requirements and ultimately improving flight punctuality.

The warehouse is set to fulfil the engineering resource needs for the maintenance and servicing of Air India, Air India Express, and AIX Connect fleets. It will consolidate 16 previously dispersed locations in Delhi and Mumbai into a state-of-the-art facility functioning as a hub and feeder network for operations across India. This consolidation is expected to streamline airline operations and enhance inventory control.

Located in proximity to Air India’s aircraft hangars at Terminal 3 of the IGI airport, the warehouse will facilitate the efficient movement of spare parts to address technical issues promptly.
