Karnataka Approves IT Park Project in Derebail, Mangaluru, Under PPP Model

Dinesh Gundu Rao, the Minister of Health and Family Welfare and the District Minister for Dakshina Kannada, has announced the government’s green light for the establishment of an IT park in Derebail, a part of the city. This project is set to cover an area of over three acres and will be executed in collaboration with the Karnataka State Electronics Development Corporation (KEONICS) under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) framework. Minister Rao mentioned that a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the project will be drafted in the next two months.

He stated that the state government has granted approval for the creation of the IT park under the PPP model. Furthermore, the city is exploring the possibility of extending the PPP agreement from the initial 30 years to a more extensive 60-year term for this project.

In relation to the proposed zoning regulations for Mangaluru city’s Master Plan, Minister Rao disclosed that he has instructed the Directorate of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the amendments and recommendations presented by the Mangaluru Urban Development Authority (Muda).

Moreover, Minister Rao outlined plans to issue new tenders for the shops developed by the Mangaluru Smart City Limited on Kadri Park Road, with adjustments to the existing conditions.
