Delhi to witness 6 Mega Infrastructure projects in 2023

The year 2023 is expected to be a year full of multi-million projects. Here are some of the most intriguing infrastructure developments to look out for in the next year, including expressways, flyovers and metros.

Delhi- Mumbai Expressway
The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway (DME) which is being built at an estimated cost of Rs 103,000 crore will ultimately be put into operation in this year. With a length of around 1,390 kilometres, it would be India’s longest motorway and cut the distance between Delhi and Mumbai’s travel time from 24 to 13 hours.

Noida International Airport
The new greenfield NIA airport will be the biggest in India spread over an area of a land area of 5,000 acres with a capacity for 70 million passengers annually. The airport will have two terminal buildings. It would improve connection to and from Delhi-NCR, Noida, and Western Uttar Pradesh on both the domestic and international levels.

Delhi-Meerut RRTS
The nation’s first rapid rail system will be operational in 2023. The 17 km stretch from Sahibabad to Duhai, which will open, will make up 20% of the 82 km corridor connecting Delhi’s Sarai Kale Khan to Meerut. With a design speed of 180 kmph, an operating speed of 160 kmph, and an average running speed of 100 kmph, the RRTS project is designed to connect the three cities of Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut.

Ashram Flyover Extension
Once completed, travellers between Delhi and Noida would save daily 25 minutes during their commute through the Ashram Flyover Extension. There will be six lanes on the extension. The three significant crossroads at Maharani Bagh, Ashram, and DND-Ring Road will make the roads less congested. The flyover was supposed to be finished in December, but owing to municipal lockdowns, deadlines were missed. the new deadline is in 2023.

Dwarka Expressway
The Northern Peripheral Road, also known as NH 248-BB or the Dwarka Expressway, runs through Dwarka Sector 21, the Gurugram boundary, and Basai before ending near Kherki Daula Toll Plaza on NH-8 (the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway).

Aqua Blue Skywalk
According to the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC), a Foot over Bridge (FOB) that would connect Sector 52 station on the Blue Line of the Delhi Metro with the Aqua Line of the Noida Metro is projected to be built this year. The Blue line metro station sector-52 and the Aqua line metro station sector-51 will soon be connected by a 420-meter skywalk.
