Jamshedpur MP Pushes ₹482 Crore Upgrade Plan for Tatanagar Station

MP Bidyut Baran Mahato has urged the Railways to fast-track key infrastructure upgrades at Tatanagar Railway Station, including a ₹482 crore proposal for additional platforms and loop lines.

During a meeting with Vikas Jain, Executive Director (Public Grievances) of the Railway Board, the MP highlighted the need to strengthen capacity at the busy junction. The proposed plan includes four new loop lines and platforms under the Gati Shakti initiative, aimed at improving train handling and reducing congestion.

The discussion also covered broader rail infrastructure development in the region. Officials indicated that projects such as additional rail lines between Pandrasali and Kandra and a proposed satellite station near Tatanagar are being fast-tracked, with surveys already approved.

Mahato further sought clearance for a ₹383.78 crore Vande Bharat coach depot, which is currently awaiting approval from the Indian Railways.

Other demands included a shorter route plan for the Tata–Jaipur train and a new service connecting Jamshedpur to Bengaluru. The Railway Board has assured that the proposals are under active consideration.
