Shyam Metalics Scales Jamuria CRM to 0.40 MTPA

Shyam Metalics and Energy Limited has commissioned Phase II of its Cold Rolling Mill (CRM) facility at Jamuria, West Bengal, marking a key capacity expansion in its flat steel segment.

Executed through its subsidiary Shyam Sel and Power Limited, the expansion adds 0.15 MTPA capacity via an advanced dual pot GI cum Galvalume line, taking total CRM capacity at the plant to 0.40 MTPA. The new line enables production of high-performance coated steel, including Galvalume, known for superior corrosion resistance and heat reflectivity.

The expansion aligns with rising domestic demand, particularly from solar mounting structures, where import dependence remains high. It also opens opportunities in automotive and consumer durables, enabling the company to move further up the value chain.

Additionally, the project qualifies under the Government’s PLI scheme for specialty steel, enhancing returns and supporting long-term growth in value-added segments.
