Railway infrastructure works across the Nagpur division have been rescheduled, with redevelopment of Nagpur Railway Station now targeted for completion in March 2027 instead of December 2026. Officials said progress has slowed due to construction at the live station and the need to preserve its heritage structure. Yard remodelling, platform upgrades and signalling improvements are being carried out in phases to maintain passenger services while enhancing future capacity and safety.
Ajni Railway Station, being developed as a satellite terminal to ease pressure on Nagpur, will now be completed by October 2026 rather than this summer. Four new platforms are under construction on the eastern side, and trains towards Balharshah and Bandera are expected to originate or terminate there to reduce congestion and improve punctuality.
Godhani station is also being expanded to four platforms to strengthen suburban and regional connectivity.
Meanwhile, the Nagpur–Sewagram third and fourth lines are nearing completion. However, tunnelling at Darakho on the Nagpur–Itarsi route has faced delays. The Nagpur–Nagbhir gauge conversion is expected to finish by end-2026, with work in the Warora forest stretch gaining pace.
