The Kerala government has given in-principle approval for setting up major logistics infrastructure projects near Vizhinjam port, aimed at strengthening the port-led industrial ecosystem. Multimodal logistics parks and warehousing facilities will be developed by central PSUs- Container Corporation of India (Concor), Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) and Indian Oil Corporation (IOC).
Vizhinjam International Seaport Limited (VISL) has identified land parcels for the projects, including 25 acres at Kottukal for Concor’s multimodal logistics park, about 50 acres at Amaravila near Neyyattinkara for a large CWC warehouse complex, and 20 acres near the port for IOC’s marine fuel bunkering and tank farm facilities. VISL will acquire the land and lease it to the PSUs, which will undertake construction and obtain statutory clearances.
Officials said the projects will act as anchor investments and boost logistics, shipping and industrial activity linked to the Vizhinjam transhipment port.
