Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated and laid the foundation for four significant railway projects in Odisha, valued at Rs 28.71 billion. These projects aim to boost rail connectivity, alleviate congestion on critical routes, and foster socio-economic growth in the region. Among the inaugurated initiatives is the 25 km Lanjigarh Road-Ambadola-Doikallu railway section, part of the Vizianagaram-Titilagarh third line project, costing Rs 4.32 billion. This section will improve links between western Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, enhancing freight transport efficiency.
Additionally, the 23 km Laxmipur Road-Singaram-Tikiri section, completed under the Koraput-Singapur road doubling project at a cost of Rs 2.60 billion, is set to increase train movement capacity in southern Odisha, benefiting freight movement from resource-rich areas to key markets. The 41 km Dhenkanal-Sadashibapur-Hindol Road section, part of the Budhapank-Salegaon third and fourth line project worth Rs 5.40 billion, is expected to enhance industrial route capacity for more efficient goods transport.
Another key project is the 12.5 km Bangurkela-Nowgaon section of the Bondamunda-Ranchi doubling project, completed at Rs 2.39 billion, aimed at reducing congestion and improving connectivity between Odisha and Jharkhand. Modi also laid the foundation for a 7 km flyover between Siju and the Paradeep coaching yard, worth Rs 2 billion, which will eliminate surface crossings and ensure smoother train movement at Paradeep Port.
