Odisha Initiates Tender for Puri International Airport, Rs 2203 Cr Project

The town of Puri is set to welcome an international airport as the Odisha government initiates the tender process for the construction of Puri Shree Jagannath International Airport. Under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, the estimated budget for this project is Rs 2,203 crore. The tender, inviting bids, has been released by the Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO).

The IDCO’s tender order states, “On behalf of Commerce and Transport Department, Government of Odisha, the chief general manager (Planning and Coordination), IDCO Towers, Janpath, Bhubaneswar invites international competitive bids in Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode in double cover system through online mode only.”

Bidders are expected to complete the construction within 1,095 days, with the online tender process commencing on February 21, and the opening of technical bids scheduled for April 21. The airport’s commercial operation is anticipated to begin in seven years.

The state government has obtained the necessary licenses from various agencies, including the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, for land acquisition, including forest land, for the project. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had discussed the Shree Jagannath International Airport project with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in May of the previous year.
