Fort Station Overbridge Work Picks Up Pace in Tiruchi

Construction of an overbridge near Fort railway station in Tiruchi, which has faced significant delays, has gained momentum with composite steel girders brought to the site for erection by the Southern Railway Construction Organisation.

The project, estimated to cost ₹44 crore, is being jointly executed by the Tiruchi Corporation and the Southern Railway Construction Organisation on a 50:50 cost-sharing basis, with the latter handling works within the railway portion. Eight composite steel girders have been brought to the site for erection. Progress had been slow since the British-built old bridge was closed to vehicular movement in March 2024, causing difficulties for motorists. The Corporation is now hopeful of completing the work in the coming months.
