Road and Bridge Push Reshapes Connectivity in Rajouri’s Border Belt

Border areas in Rajouri district are witnessing a long-awaited infrastructure upgrade, as road widening and bridge construction begin to transform connectivity in the Nowshera sub-division. For residents accustomed to narrow, single-lane roads, the shift to double-lane, fully blacktopped routes marks a visible change in everyday mobility.

A key project includes a 3-kilometre, 10-metre-wide road being developed at a cost of ₹8 crore, aimed at easing congestion and improving access across the region. Alongside this, new bridges are coming up in previously disconnected pockets, including a crucial link between Nowshera and the Seri block, addressing a long-pending demand.

The upgrades are expected to do more than ease travel. Better roads are opening pathways for local businesses, improving access to education and healthcare, and creating new employment opportunities. Supported by initiatives like the National Rural Livelihoods Mission, the region is beginning to see infrastructure as a catalyst for both economic activity and improved quality of life.
