400-Metre Addition Positions Vizhinjam for Job-Led Growth

The rapid expansion of Vizhinjam Port is fast emerging as both a strategic and human story, where infrastructure meets opportunity. A new 400-metre berth, set for completion by year-end, is expected to unlock hundreds of logistics and technical jobs, bringing tangible benefits to local communities.

Driven by rising global shipping disruptions, including spillovers from tensions in West Asia, the port is witnessing an unexpected surge in demand. Alongside Mediterranean Shipping Company, several new global lines are seeking docking access, prompting Adani Group to accelerate development through a phased approach.

Beyond capacity, the transformation is deeply structural. The berth will eventually extend to 2,000 metres, supported by a massive breakwater and expanded yard capacity, positioning Vizhinjam as a major transhipment hub. As cargo volumes rise, opportunities will span logistics, automation, and services, while increased cruise traffic is expected to energise local commerce, linking global trade flows with regional growth.
