Rail infrastructure push gains momentum as Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) emerges as the lowest bidder for a ₹967.93 crore bridge construction contract from East Coast Railway.
The project involves building four major open web steel girder bridges across the Birupa, Mahanadi, Kathjori, and Kuakhai rivers, forming a crucial part of the Bhadrak–Vizianagaram 3rd and 4th line expansion. Spanning key stretches between Nergundi–Barang and Khurda Road–Vizianagaram, the development strengthens a 385 km corridor aimed at improving rail capacity and operational efficiency.
Designed for durability and load optimisation, the bridges feature multiple long-span steel girders, including a 32-span structure over the Mahanadi. The project will be executed over three years under EPC mode, covering engineering, procurement, and construction.
Beyond order book growth, the win reinforces RVNL’s role in delivering complex steel-intensive infrastructure, while supporting seamless connectivity across Odisha’s critical river networks.
