Maharashtra strengthens its industrial footprint as the state government signs a major MoU with Shyam Steel Industries Ltd to set up an integrated steel plant in Gondpipri, Chandrapur.
Formalised in the presence of Devendra Fadnavis and Chairman Purushottam Beriwala, the ₹10,115 crore investment is expected to generate over 8,000 jobs, positioning the project as a key driver of growth in the Gadchiroli–Chandrapur belt.
The proposed facility will enhance Maharashtra’s manufacturing capacity while supporting ancillary industries, logistics, and regional supply chains. Located in a mineral-rich zone, the plant is expected to leverage local resources and contribute to long-term industrial stability.
Aligned with the state’s push to decentralise industrial development, the project signals a shift towards expanding economic activity beyond traditional hubs. Once implemented, it is set to accelerate infrastructure development and unlock new opportunities across eastern Maharashtra.
