New terminal building at Udaipur airport to be completed soon

The new terminal building at Udaipur airport is set for completion this year, with efforts underway to introduce international flights.

Speaking in the Rajya Sabha, Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu confirmed that construction of the upgraded terminal in Rajasthan is in its final stages and will be inaugurated soon. Discussions are currently ongoing with airlines to commence overseas services from the city.

The update came in response to a query raised by Chunnilal Garasiya, who sought clarity on the timeline for international operations from Udaipur.

Highlighting sectoral growth, Naidu noted that India’s aviation landscape has expanded significantly over the past decade, with a rise in airports, aircraft and passenger traffic. This growth has also driven demand for a skilled workforce.

He added that capacity-building initiatives have been strengthened in recent years, particularly in airport ground handling and operations. Training programmes, led by ground handling agencies in collaboration with airlines and institutes, cover areas such as passenger services, baggage handling, ramp operations, safety and emergency response.

These efforts aim to support the sector’s evolving operational needs.
