Delhi Unveils ₹1.03 Lakh Crore Green Budget

The Government of Delhi has presented a ₹1.03 lakh crore Budget for 2026–27, marking the capital’s first dedicated “Green Budget” with a strong focus on infrastructure, sustainability and social sectors across Delhi. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta outlined a roadmap to shape a modern, inclusive and environmentally resilient city.

A key highlight is the sharp rise in capital expenditure to ₹30,800 crore, up from ₹17,224 crore last year, reflecting a clear shift towards asset creation and infrastructure development. Of the total outlay, ₹22,236 crore has been earmarked for environmental protection and sustainable initiatives.

Education receives the largest allocation at ₹19,326 crore, followed by ₹13,034 crore for public health. Investments in transport, roads and bridges stand at ₹12,613 crore, while housing and urban development account for ₹11,572 crore.

While tax revenues are projected to grow, driven largely by GST collections, reduced central grants and higher borrowings indicate tightening fiscal space. The Budget signals a calibrated push towards green growth, backed by increased infrastructure spending and sectoral prioritisation.
