Goripalayam Flyover in Madurai Set for Inauguration Today

The newly constructed Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose flyover at Goripalayam is set to be inaugurated today by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin, marking the commissioning of a key urban infrastructure project in the city.

Built at a cost of ₹213 crore, the flyover aims to ease congestion at the heavily trafficked Goripalayam junction. The completed main arm connects Tamukkam junction with Nelpettai and includes a bridge across the Vaigai river, significantly improving traffic circulation. Drone footage released ahead of the inauguration has revealed the finished structure, while officials confirmed that work on a separate arm extending towards Palam Station Road in Sellur is underway and expected to be completed by April.

As part of his Madurai visit, the Chief Minister will also inaugurate a skill development centre established by Pinnacle Infotech at the IT Park in Nagamalai Pudukottai. A computer laboratory at Meenakshi Government Arts and Science College for Women and the renovated Vandiyur tank will also be opened during the visit.

Stalin will additionally chair a meeting with booth-level agents, digital agents and booth committee members from 58 Assembly constituencies across 10 southern districts. Over one lakh party workers are expected to attend, with entry restricted through QR-code identity cards.

The visit will conclude with his participation in a commemorative programme at the Gandhi Memorial Museum before departing for Chennai.
