CtrlS Datacenters, a leading data centre operator in India, has inaugurated a Rs 4,000 crore data centre park in Chennai, further expanding its footprint in the country’s growing digital infrastructure sector. The new facility, which consists of two data centres—DC 1 and DC 2—has a total capacity of 72 MW. This project is expected to create 500 direct jobs and 9,000 indirect employment opportunities, contributing to the region’s economic growth.

As businesses increasingly adopt AI and cloud computing, the demand for hyperscale data centres is rising. Chairman Sridhar Pinnapureddy emphasized that the company is witnessing significant opportunities in the AI-driven sector, which requires substantial capital expenditure. To support its long-term growth, CtrlS is considering an initial public offering (IPO), with discussions ongoing at the board level.

CtrlS has been aggressively expanding, having announced a $2 billion investment plan in 2023 to develop AI and cloud-ready data centres. Of this, $300 million has already been deployed through internal accruals, debt, and customer advances. The company currently operates 15 data centres across eight cities, including Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Lucknow, with a total capacity of 250 MW. It aims to add another 650 MW by 2030 to cater to the increasing digital demands in India.
