The newly inaugurated terminal building at Rewa Airport, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is set to offer air travel from Rewa to Bhopal for just Rs 999 for the first month, marking a significant step in enhancing air connectivity in the region. PM Modi laid the foundation stones for various projects worth over Rs 6,000 crore, which included terminal buildings at Rewa, Maa Mahamaya Airport in Darima (Chhattisgarh), and Sarsawa (Uttar Pradesh), totaling over Rs 220 crore.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav hailed the terminal’s inauguration as a Diwali gift from PM Modi, emphasizing its potential to stimulate the development of the Vindhya region. He noted that Rewa, which encompasses seven districts, will benefit greatly from the new airport and the upcoming expressway connecting Rewa to Bhopal.
During the event, CM Yadav remarked that the region is rich in natural resources and poised for growth, highlighting that, thanks to the efforts of PM Modi and the UDAN scheme, air travel is now accessible to even the poorest citizens. He also pointed out that Rewa, which lacked a railway connection as of 1993, now boasts an airport and continues to see ongoing development with 25 airstrips and six airports already established in Madhya Pradesh. Plans are underway to build airstrips in every district, with airports in Ujjain, Shivpuri, and Datia on the horizon.
