Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the foundation stone laying ceremony for JSW Steel’s greenfield integrated steel manufacturing complex in Paradip, Jagatsinghpur district. With an estimated value of Rs 65,000 crore, the project is envisioned to drive economic growth, creating employment for around 15,000 individuals and establishing a robust ancillary and downstream ecosystem.
This unique green steel venture by JSW Steel is set to be a world-class facility, embracing circular economy practices and serving as a global model for cleanliness, green initiatives, and advanced technologies, according to senior officials. The Integrated Steel Manufacturing facility will boast a capacity of 13.2 million metric tonnes per annum (MTPA), complemented by a captive power plant, captive jetties, and cargo-handling capabilities.
Situated in Dhinkia Nuagaon and Gadakujanga under Erasama Tehsil, Jagatsinghpur district, the project has received 2,958 acres of land from the Industrial Development Corporation of Odisha (IDCO). Notably, 30% of the total project land is dedicated to preserving forests and water bodies. JSW Steel and JSW Group entities plan to invest approximately Rs 65,000 crore, pending necessary approvals, for the phased establishment of this integrated complex, as per the steelmaker’s statement.
