Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd. (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power Co., has announced a significant partnership with the Andhra Pradesh Government to develop renewable energy projects worth over Rs 49,000 crore ($5.6 billion). This agreement marks the largest renewable energy investment in the state’s history.

Through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), TPREL aims to explore opportunities for the development of up to 7,000 MW of renewable energy, including solar, wind, and hybrid projects, with the option of incorporating energy storage solutions.

This initiative aligns with the state’s ambitious goals outlined in the newly introduced Integrated Clean Energy (ICE) policy, launched in October 2024. The policy aims to transform Andhra Pradesh into a leading hub for clean energy by 2047. It includes an ambitious target of adding more than 160 GW of renewable energy capacity, attracting investments worth Rs 10 lakh crore, and generating employment for 7.5 lakh people.

As part of its broader sustainability strategy, Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd. supports Tata Power’s commitment to achieving a 70 per cent clean energy portfolio by 2030 and reaching net-zero emissions by 2050.
