Adani Green Energy (AGEL) and TotalEnergies have announced a strategic joint venture to manage a substantial portfolio of solar projects in Khavda, Gujarat. This initiative will focus on developing projects with a combined capacity of 1,150 MW at what is known as the world’s largest renewable energy plant.
The joint venture, equally owned by both AGEL and TotalEnergies, represents a significant collaboration in the renewable energy sector. AGEL will contribute its existing assets to the venture, while TotalEnergies will inject $444 million to accelerate the development process. This substantial investment highlights the shared commitment of both companies to advancing India’s transition to renewable energy.
The new projects will generate electricity that will be sold through Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) and on the wholesale market. This approach reflects AGEL’s proven capability to deliver green energy at an unprecedented scale and pace, reinforcing its role in the renewable energy landscape.
Overall, the partnership between AGEL and TotalEnergies aims to not only foster cooperation between global energy leaders but also to drive significant progress in India’s renewable energy sector, supporting the country’s broader sustainability goals.
