Thiruvananthapuram: The ambitious Sabarimala Airport project has gained crucial approval from the `PM Gati Shakti` initiative, a central program designed to streamline infrastructure development approvals. This milestone brings Kerala significantly closer to realizing its long-awaited airport project.

The `PM Gati Shakti` initiative oversees the coordination and approval of multi-level infrastructure projects across India, including roads, railways, airports, and water transport. It facilitates the review and sanctioning of master plans submitted by state governments to ensure seamless project execution.

The recent approval was granted following a thorough examination of the project recommendation by the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC). Additionally, the Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geo-Informatics (BISAG-N) provided detailed geo-mapping for the project, which was integral to the approval process.

The final step for the Sabarimala Airport project involves obtaining clearance from the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). This will be contingent on the completion of state government notifications and necessary procedural requirements.

The successful approval under `PM Gati Shakti` marks a significant advancement for the Sabarimala Airport project, bringing it closer to fruition and promising enhanced connectivity and development for the region.
