Anakapalli district may soon get another steel plant, with a Japanese firm expressing interest in setting up a major facility in Makavarapalem mandal. Representatives of the company visited land parcels identified under the state’s land bank on Tuesday. Revenue and Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) officials have identified about 4,250 acres in Pydipala, Peddipalem, Burugupalem and Tutipala revenue villages for industrial development.
According to revenue sources, representatives of the Japanese firm inspected land at Adigarla Palem in Tutipala revenue limits. The company is reportedly planning an investment of ₹50,000 crore and has sought around 1,000 acres for the proposed project. Officials showed the team land parcels near the reservoir and Jajigedda areas in Adigarla Palem and Mamidipalem villages. The representatives also sought details on water availability, power supply and road connectivity. Meanwhile, representatives of Blackstone Inc, one of the world’s largest alternative asset management firms, had earlier visited land bank areas in Tutipala revenue limits. The company had sought around 500 acres of land.
Sources said officials are considering allotting 500 acres in Rachapalli revenue village to Blackstone, which manages assets worth more than $1.3 trillion.
