Chhattisgarh Draws ₹8 Lakh Crore in Industrial Investment Bids

Chhattisgarh has emerged as a significant industrial destination, receiving investment proposals worth nearly ₹8 lakh crore spanning semiconductors, AI data centres, textiles, pharmaceuticals and agro-processing — sectors expected to play a major role in India’s future manufacturing landscape.

The state has also secured the highest rank among 17 major states in Regulatory Ease and Institutional Environment under the CRISIL–NITI Aayog Investment Friendliness Index 2026, ranking first in both categories and second in Environmental Resilience. Strong scores in resource availability and financial health, backed by abundant mineral reserves, further strengthen its industrial appeal.

Policy reforms have played a key role in this shift. The Industrial Development Policy 2024–30 promotes investments through targeted incentives and simplified approvals, while the Chhattisgarh Jan Vishwas Act decriminalises 279 minor business-related offences to reduce compliance burdens. New Ease of Doing Business legislation based on a risk-based regulatory system is also expected to accelerate approvals and improve transparency.

Chhattisgarh’s natural resource base adds to its advantage — it is India’s second-largest producer of coal and lignite and a leading producer of metallic and non-metallic minerals. Competitive power tariffs further support energy-intensive industries such as steel, cement and data infrastructure.

If a significant share of the proposed investments moves into execution, the state could see large-scale development of manufacturing facilities, industrial parks, AI data centres, logistics hubs and warehouses — generating broad opportunities across India’s construction, engineering and building materials sectors.
