The Maharashtra government has signed two Memorandums of Understanding worth Rs 1.75 lakh crore with JW Global Group and Shyam Steel, spanning solar, artificial intelligence, green hydrogen, nuclear and steel manufacturing, in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Of the total, JW Global and The Seed Consortium will invest Rs 1,65,000 crore across four mega projects aimed at positioning Maharashtra as a global hub for sustainable development. The largest single package, worth Rs 1,13,907 crore, will fund a sustainable AI campus and 1.4 GW data centre expected to create up to 10,000 construction jobs and 750 permanent positions. The consortium also plans to deploy 440 MW twin-unit nuclear technology for round-the-clock carbon-free power, alongside a 2 GW floating solar plant on the Ujani dam in Solapur with a 1,000 MW battery storage system worth Rs 14,976 crore, and a Rs 3,071 crore facility to produce 6,900 metric tonnes of green hydrogen annually.
Separately, Shyam Steel will invest Rs 10,000 crore to develop a 2 million tonnes per annum integrated steel plant in Chandrapur district, including a 260 MW captive power plant, expected to generate indirect employment for over 4,000 people.
CM Fadnavis said Maharashtra has entered a new era of industrialisation driven by strategic policy reforms, adding that the state is taking a national lead in small modular nuclear reactor development following the Centre’s decision to permit private investment in civil nuclear energy.
