Amazon Data Services India has acquired a 10.6-acre land parcel in Ambernath, Mumbai Metropolitan Region, from Lodha Developers for more than INR 125 crore, as part of its ongoing data centre expansion strategy in India.
The acquired parcel sits adjacent to Amazon’s existing data centre campus in Ambernath, indicating plans for campus expansion and additional digital infrastructure development. The deal value excludes stamp duty and registration charges.
Mumbai and the wider Mumbai Metropolitan Region remain among India’s largest data centre hubs, benefiting from strong connectivity infrastructure, access to submarine cable landing stations, reliable power availability and proximity to major enterprise customers. The region has attracted substantial investment from domestic and international operators in recent years.
The acquisition adds to Amazon’s growing digital infrastructure portfolio in India. Through Amazon Web Services, the company has continued to invest in cloud infrastructure, data processing facilities and technology ecosystems to meet rising enterprise and consumer demand for digital services.
The transaction also reflects broader industry trends, with availability of power infrastructure, fibre connectivity and scalable land banks becoming key factors in investment decisions by global technology companies. Demand for hyperscale facilities has risen sharply as enterprises migrate workloads to cloud platforms and expand digital operations across India’s major markets including Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Delhi-NCR.
