The Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA) has approved the construction of a 1.5-km cable-stayed bridge connecting Marve to Manori, Gorai, and Uttan. Currently, commuters rely on ferry services or a 29-km detour via Mira Bhayander, which takes up to two hours during peak traffic. The new four-lane bridge, built by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), will provide a direct road link, significantly reducing travel time to just a few minutes.

However, the project will impact 45 mangrove trees, raising environmental concerns. The MCZMA has mandated a compensatory plantation three times the affected area at Virathan Budruk in Palghar. Local communities and environmentalists have raised objections to potential ecological damage and effects on traditional livelihoods in Dharavi Beth and Gorai. To mitigate these concerns, authorities must obtain approvals from the High Court and the mangrove protection cell while implementing a mangrove densification plan.

If executed with environmental safeguards, the Marve-Manori Bridge is expected to enhance connectivity and improve infrastructure while addressing ecological challenges.
