Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd (GRSE) has reached a significant milestone by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) for the fabrication, supply, and installation of Double-Lane Class 70 modular steel and Bailey bridges.

The agreement was signed between Dr. Krishan Kumar, IAS, Managing Director of NHIDCL, and Cmde PR Hari, IN (Retd.), CMD of GRSE, in the presence of senior officials from both organizations. This collaboration aims to enhance connectivity in critical border areas, aiding in the swift movement of troops and equipment.

GRSE’s Double-Lane Steel Bridge, a unique indigenous design, aligns with India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative. Previously, GRSE has supplied 44 similar bridges across India under a MoU with the Border Roads Organization (BRO).

These bridges, designed for high-altitude deployment, are built from high tensile steel and feature a modular design for easy transport and quick assembly. GRSE’s Portable Steel Bridge Division, a leader in innovation, has already supplied over 5,700 bridges both domestically and internationally.

This MoU further solidifies GRSE’s role as a pivotal contributor to India’s infrastructure development, ensuring that critical regions are equipped with robust and reliable connectivity solutions, thus reinforcing national security and fostering regional development.
