CM Biren Singh Inaugurates Rs. 58 Cr LGSF Housing Complex in Manipur

Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh recently inaugurated the Alternate Housing Complex situated at the National Games Village, Langol. The event, organized by Manipur Municipal Administration, Housing and Urban Development (MAHUD), marked a significant milestone in the state’s development.

The Planning and Development Authority of Manipur served as the implementing agency for this housing complex, which was constructed at a cost of approximately Rs. 58 crores. Funding for the project was provided by the Housing and Urban Development Corporation Ltd (HUDCO) and the State Government.

Singh disclosed that the housing complex, completed in less than two years, was constructed at a cost of around Rs. 58 crores. He emphasized the role of public cooperation and support in undertaking various development initiatives. The Chief Minister mentioned the identification of sites along foothills where agriculture activities were not feasible, hinting at similar projects in those areas.

Providing technical details, Commissioner of MAHUD M. Joy Singh explained that the Alternative Housing Complex spans an area of 2.16 acres and employs Light Gauge Steel Frame (LGSF) technology. This construction method reduces dead weight by 60% compared to RCC buildings, making it suitable for high seismic zones like Manipur, falling under seismic zone-V. The housing complex comprises 5 blocks, housing a total of 180 dwelling units.
