The High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA), chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, greenlit 12 industrial projects, totaling an investment of Rs 84,918.75 crore. These ventures are poised to generate employment for 42,281 individuals, primarily in green ammonia, green hydrogen, and green methanol sectors.
Among the approved projects are plans by Welspun New Energy Ltd and Sembcorp Green Hydrogen India Pvt Ltd for green ammonia plants in Kendrapara and Ganjam, alongside ReNew E-Fuels Pvt Ltd’s initiatives for green hydrogen and green methanol in Malkangiri and Rayagada. Welspun and Sembcorp aim to invest Rs 13,860 crore and Rs 13,000 crore, respectively, generating 2,250 jobs. ReNew E-Fuels will invest Rs 19,000 crore, creating 2,400 jobs across its two units.
Additional investments were sanctioned in apparel and textiles, steel, chemical, and petrochemical downstream sectors, spanning districts like Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, and Sundargarh.
Welspun Group secured approval for Welspun Living Ltd’s integrated textile and logistics facility in Choudwar (Rs 3,050 crore investment, 20,210 jobs) and Welspun Corp Ltd’s Rs 3,137 crore investment in Sambalpur for a pipe manufacturing and coating plant (3,830 jobs).
Tata Steel received approval for a hot rolled and cold rolled coil plant (Rs 10,351.11 crore investment, 6.5 MTPA capacity) in Dhenkanal. Orissa Metallurgical Industry Pvt Ltd was greenlit for a Rs 5,200 crore investment in a two MTPA integrated steel plant, 240 MW captive power plant, and one MTPA cement grinding unit in Jharsuguda.
Furthermore, NTPC Ltd’s 800 MW super thermal power plant (Rs 9,208.36 crore investment) in Sundargarh, BMW Industries Ltd’s ERW pipes, TMT bars, and hot rolled pickled oiled coil unit (Rs 1,094.82 crore investment) at Kalinganagar, Ind Barath Energy Utkal Ltd’s 800 MW ultra supercritical coal-fired thermal power project (Rs 6,012.46 crore) in Jharsuguda, and Aegis Vopak’s greenfield liquid ammonia storage facility (Rs 1,000 crore investment) in Gopalpur were all approved.
