The Odisha government has stepped up monitoring of major road infrastructure projects, directing officials to expedite land acquisition, address pending clearances and speed up DPR preparation for elevated corridors, ring roads and flyovers planned across Bhubaneswar and adjoining areas. Works Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan chaired the review meeting assessing project-wise progress.
Among the key proposals reviewed was the Raghunathpur-Trisulia elevated corridor, intended to improve traffic movement along an important Bhubaneswar route, along with the proposed Studio Chhak-Nuagaon elevated road aimed at addressing traffic pressure on existing networks. The meeting also covered the proposed Pipili-Konark road project and the first and third phases of the Daya West Canal road development.
Urban connectivity around Bhubaneswar was another key focus, with officials discussing new alignments for the city’s Inner Ring Road and Outer Ring Road, expected to provide additional traffic routes and improve connectivity across the metropolitan area. The long-pending Kalpana Square flyover and a proposed elevated road toward Puri were also reviewed in the context of rising traffic volumes.
Works Department Principal Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh instructed officials and chief engineers to accelerate implementation processes, with particular emphasis on resolving land acquisition issues, removing bottlenecks and completing pending DPRs. The government’s approach aims to ensure procedural issues do not delay projects that have already received administrative approval.
