ICEYE to Establish Satellite Manufacturing Hub in India Within 12 Months

ICEYE, a global leader in Synthetic Aperture Radar satellite intelligence, plans to establish its first India manufacturing facility within six to twelve months, positioning the country as its Asia-Pacific production hub alongside existing operations in Europe and the United States. The company intends to manufacture approximately 10 satellites in the first year, scaling to between 20 and 40 units annually in subsequent years.

CEO and co-founder Rafal Modrzewski described the investment as likely running into tens of millions of dollars, with exact figures still being finalised. ICEYE currently manufactures around 50 satellites annually globally and targets crossing 100 units per year by 2028, with hundreds more planned for deployment in coming years.

The facility will serve both domestic and global markets, producing satellites for defence, surveillance, and environmental monitoring applications. Modrzewski cited India’s alignment with two defining global trends, rising defence expenditure and accelerating adoption of space-based intelligence, as central to the company’s commitment to building a supply chain and manufacturing presence in the country independent of any single order book.
